The Love Center Food Cupboard

The Love Center, located in the heart of one of the most economically deprived areas of the state, is a powerful outreach that effects tens of thousands of lives each year.

What We Do.

Once a week the Love Center opens it’s doors to any Lorain County resident who is in need of basic grocery items. People are able to come and choose 15 items from the shelves as well as as much fresh fruits and vegetables as they’d like.

Why We Do It.

Jesus said “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Mt 25:40) We love these people. We see Christ in them and we hope they see Christ in us. The greatest commandments are to love the Lord your God and to love your neighbor as yourself. (Mt 22:37-39) The Love Center allows us to accomplish both commands in one beautiful act.

Measurable Results.

The Love Center feeds 70 to 100+ individuals and families per week. Because accurate records are kept  it is easy measure the impact on the love center on the community. Last year alone almost 18,000 lives were touched by the Love Center.

Beyond the Food.

There is more to this than feeding people. Along with the food the Love Center provides some basic enmities that cannot be bought with food stamps like diapers, cosmetics, toiletries, dish detergent, clothing, winter hats/gloves, and a library of good books. The goal is to fill the gaps where the system fails and provide for those we are called to provide for.

How We are Funded.

By you! It is only by your support that the Love Center is able to function. There is no grantor or large philanthropic organization underwriting this program. The majority of the food that is distributed is bought by the Love Center at a discount from Second Harvest. Church on the North Coast is only able to give to the Love Center what is given specifically for that purpose. We need your help! Donate today!!
